Mayans
The Maya are divergent native people who resided in contemporary Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and some parts of El Salvador and Honduras (Mark & Mark). They had one of the most progressive civilizations in the Americas. They contributed and made great accomplishments in the following sector; agriculture, architecture, engineering, and astronomy within 300-900 AD (Mark & Mark). Agriculture was a key industry for the Maya as it is what fed the megacity and made them prosper. They managed to plant corn, beans, and cassava in harsh climates through an extensive irrigation system. An area such as Yucatan did not have any natural water sources such as rivers or lakes. This shows they had to use their engineering skills to harvest and store to cater to their large city needs. There buildings and place of worship was an architectural marvel as they did not have technologies like what we have today.  Their understanding of celestial bodies was marvelous, and they employed astrology to know when to plant and when to harvest.
Aztec
The Aztec was a nomadic community that settled in northern Mexico at the start of the 13th century (“Aztecs,”). The community capital city was Tenochtitlan, and it was a force to reckon with socially, politically, and economically. The city was later captured by the Spanish during an invasion in the 15th century (“Aztecs,”). They showed their engineering skills by draining a swampy area and building their settlement. Agriculture was also key to their success, and they reclaimed swampy areas and made artificial lands where they cultivated their crops. They also employed the use of irrigation canals. Their architectural advancement is shown in the ‘Templo Mayor,” a magnificent temple made in the shape of a pyramid. The use of two calendar years also shows how they were advanced. One was the solar year, which is made up of 365 days, while the other was a ritual calendar made up of 260 days (“Aztecs,”).
Incan
The Inca reign in the Andes area started at around the 12th century AD (“Inca,”). Its territory spanned from the present time Ecuador to Peru. Their military strength ensured the growth of the empire (“Inca,”). To feed the massive population, each household was self-sufficient. Their engineering skills are manifested in the expansive roadway network throughout the kingdom to ease communication. The artistry involved in the building of their shrines was impeccable. Such buildings have withstood the test of time as some are still intact. This shows how their workmanship was advanced.
