Current Trends in Human Sexuality
This assignment has two parts, a paper submission and a class presentation. You will be assigned to a group to work on this project. The purpose of this activity is to help you to develop your research skills, public speaking, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Your group will select a current issue or trend on any human sexuality topic and prepare a paper and a one-page summary on the topic. The topic should have some relevance to college students. You can select any topic, but I must approve the topic. Please submit your topic ideas by September 23, 2020.
Paper Submission:
You will submit a paper that briefly describes the topic, status of the situation, if relevant, and three to five points that logically support your argument. Your argument should be augmented with examples if available, and should have factual evidence. The paper should be typed, double-spaced and no more than 1-inch margins. Use 12 point font. The papers should follow APA guidelines for citations and references.
Your paper should include:
a) Introduction including purpose of the paper, why the topic has been selected and its relevance to college age students;
b) At least five main points related to the topic including supporting evidence on those points;
c) Analysis and evaluation of the points and how this relates to human sexuality, why it is trending or an issue, who is impacted by this etc.
d) Conclusions and recommendations for further study and thinking about this topic.
Presentation:
The presentation will actually be a one-page summary that will be shared with the class. The class will provide feedback on your summary document and that feedback will be incorporated into your overall grade.
You decide how to allocate responsibility among your teammates for each part of the project. Each person, however, needs to contribute to the final product. Your grade will be based on the content of the effort. You will also be graded on the organization of your paper and the creativity of the presentation. You will be asked to rate your peers in terms of their participation on the team. In addition, your classmates will also rate you on the overall presentation.
