To be honest, I was shocked when I knew this book: The Rape of Nanking. Although as a chinese we all know that period history,however, I have no idea how tragic it was. Considering the government and the public of China and Japan, this kind of history books were examined by publishers strictly. Nevertheless, this book’s author is a Chinese-American, she had freedom to publish what she wrote in USA, so I can know this book and that period history.

She directly described the japanese soldiers’ maddening actions, recorded facts, accumulated survivals’ notes, and etc. As a journalist, she took a high risk to write a sensetive historical topic( because it involved in world war two and international perspects), what’ more, she was not a professional historian, she will be judged by professional knowledge. I will analyze the facts in this piece of book, because many facts in this book are precious and valuable.
