what is the relationship between gender and Alzheimer’s Disease
Psy330 – Fall 2015 – Dr. Kristin Davies/Hypothesis and Three References Assignment
Directions: Please include the following TYPED and in APA style (for the references)
1) 2 points: Create an empirical, directional research hypothesis. So in other words, a statement of prediction about the relationship between two factors. The hypothesis may be relational or predict a causal relationship, and may discuss variables (e.g. “I predict that high levels of perceived attractiveness will be associated with high levels of self-esteem.”), or may include a prediction about groups receiving different levels of some variable (e.g. “I predict that an experimental group made to feel anxious will report stronger religious beliefs than a control group that is not made to feel anxious.”).
See the class notes for more details about hypotheses.
2) 3 points: Find 3 empirical research articles (2005 or later) related to your hypothesis. List them in proper APA style. APA style is now in its 6th version – this is the version I refer to for grading.
If you do not have the latest APA style manual, see the Purdue University OWL website on APA style: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/07/
Note that you will need at least 5 empirical papers as references for your final paper. You may include other types of papers (e.g. older papers, review papers etc.) but at least 5 must be empirical and from the last 10 years (so 2005 or later). Empirical means that the author conducted a new study him or herself, so there should be a “Methods” section with a description of the study “participants.” A paper reviewing the work of others is called a review paper, NOT an empirical paper.
