What is a “linear equation in two variables”
(refer to section 3.2)? Write one of these equations. Use a table of values to
come up with at least 4 points for the line. Show all work on
how you found the 4 points. Write another linear equation for your classmates
so that they can find at least 3 points on the line.

What are the two types of special lines missing an intercept
(refer to section 3.3)? What is the slope of each? How does each graph look?
Write the equation for each of the following:

  • Find the equation of a vertical line passing through the point (2,5).
  • Find the equation of a horizontal line passing through the point (1,7).

Create a problem for your classmates. Ask them for the slope
and to describe how the line looks when graphed.
