What divided by 6 equals 8?

48.

Knowing how to do it so you can apply the concept to other numbers is the challenge. Here’s what you do…

“What” is your unknown, make it ‘x’. The problem becomes ##x/6=8##.

To get the “x” by itself, you have to do the inverse (opposite) of what was done to it. It was divided by 6, so you have to multiply both sides of the equation by 6.

Your problem now looks like: ##x/6*6=8*6##

You cancel out the two sixes on the left side leaving just x. ##8*6## on the right side equals 48. You’re then left with

##x=48##.
