Week 6: Group Discussion Board Topic: Integration of Mixed Company textbook assigned reading, websites, and articles readings and exercises. Discuss the 3 most important concepts you have learned.

Groupthink

Access and read The New Yorker article, “Groupthink: The brainstorming myth”. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2012/01/30/groupthink (Links to an external site.)

Then access and read, the Inc. article, “10 Longtime Brainstorming Techniques That Still Work”.

https://www.inc.com/john-boitnott/10-longtime-brainstorming-techniques-that-still-work.html (Links to an external site.)

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of group work. Identify and describe a work situation that may be better suited from individual work versus group work and vice-versa. Identify four of the ten classic brainstorming approaches outlined in the Inc. article that you have experienced first-hand or observed.  Were they successful or not?  Why, or why not?    Remember, there is no best brainstorming technique. It’s all about finding what works best for you, taking into account learning styles, preferences, and any props available. The next time you’re stumped about a decision or can’t move forward, which of these traditional approaches would you be tempted to try?  Explain.
