PLEASE NOTE: The main goal of the peer critique is to provide you with an opportunity to critically examine the concepts, theories, skills, and ideas that you are learning in this course while analyzing your peer’s presentation. By doing this, you will also show me what you have learned in this course by being able to critique your peer.

Assignment Guidelines and Requirements

Overview

You will engage in a critique related to your peer group’s final project and presentation. You will discuss this review with your peer group and critique their project and presentation using the attached document’s guidelines.

In performing your critique, you should demonstrate your understanding, personal opinions/criticisms, and feedback as they relate to your experiences in CIM603 this semester up until now. The more you use the course content to substantiate your claims, the higher the grade.

You have several options for how you should present your critique. For example, you could create a written version or a spoken video, which in and of itself is oral communication. Regardless of the format the following guidelines apply:

Assignment Criteria:

Topics. The specific focus of these critiques will be determined by your CIM603 Instructor and will relate to course readings, activities, and discussions.

Content. In each critique (regardless of format), you should do the following:

(1) Demonstrate your understanding of course content (in essence, apply the concepts that you have been learning) and

(2) Support your critique with evidence from your research. The manner in which you organize it is up to you, but you should follow effective writing and/or speaking principles and structure (i.e., provide an introduction, body, and conclusion).

(3) Cite Sources (for written citations or even oral ones) The only required published source is your textbook. However, you are encouraged to use additional published sources as needed to support your critique claims.

Possible Presentation Formats

Guidelines for Visual Reponses

Submit a video via CANVAS (specific approach would be determined by your Instructor) or other visual response to discuss your critique. The criteria are the same as above (if you create a video for your partner be sure to orally cite sources).

Guidelines for Written Critique

You can set-up a meeting with your instructor to discuss your critique. Remember that the “content” of your oral reflection must remain the same as described above, with particular attention to demonstrating/integrating/citing course content and text. You must orally cite sources in this discussion to support your claims.

For Guidelines for Written Response (Paper Format)

Include a title page in APA format
2-3 pages of content (excluding title page and bibliography)
Double-spaced
Times New Roman 12-pt font
Please include page numbers
Bibliography of sources in APA / MLA format (place this at the end of the paper with a heading)
Cite sources in-text to support your claims, using APA format
Your critique should reflect technical proficiency (correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and organization). Proofread carefully. Please review the policy on writing expectations, which is located in your syllabus.
Assessment

Your instructor will evaluate you on the following criteria:

Understanding of course concepts
Application of course concepts
Thoroughness of critique
Use of evidence to support claims and ideas
Organization (introduction, body, conclusion, transitions, etc.)
