Visit an Historic Site

Visit an Historic Site:

There are a multitude of great historic sites in the places where we live, many of which we never find the time to visit. Here is your opportunity to select one of them and indulge your interest in local history. Search out interesting places in your local community and select one to visit (get pre-approval from the instructor) – OR – choose one of the sites listed below:

The Ainsley House in Campbell. (I saw them move this house down the street)
History Park at Kelley Park in San Jose.
Peralta Adobe and Fallon House in San Jose.
Prusch Farm Park in San Jose.
The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. (this is quite expensive)
The Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum in San Jose.
Moffet Field Museum in Mountain View.

Spend some time wandering around and really absorbing the atmosphere.

*If you are not local, we can brainstorm some places to visit in your area.

Write a 1-2 page essay based on your visit and upload the file.

1. Describe the place and the setting.

2. Explain the historical significance of this site.

3. Explain why you selected the locale. (what drew you to visit)

4. What insight has this class given you for the context of your visit?
