Value Chain

Value Chain

Value Chain Model

Attached are an Excel workbook and the beginning Access Relational Database needed to manage the Nike Global Supply Chain as shown in the attached PowerPoint Presentation. A view of the presentation shows raw materials flowing to a supplier in China. In most cases the supplier buys and sells several materials in order for the manufacture to make different products. For example tennis shoes would be made of rubber, plastic and some sort of cloth.

Pushing the product towards the consumer starts with the sale of raw materials to a supplier that will accumulate/collect for sale to a manufacture. Needed here is the identification of the raw material provider and supplier. Also needed are the details of the transaction (invoice) between the raw material provider and the supplier. The invoicing starts the definition of the relationships across the supply chain.

It is critically important that thoughts are given to the data links to start building the relationships needed to track the transactions and business processes across the supply chain. For example, it is important to show that this is the beginning of the chain where a raw material provider is involved. This type of business is much different than a retailer selling to a consumer. Given the above, I am including the following to get you started. I ask that you reference these and the data in Excel to complete the supply chain with a product sale to a consumer.
