The essay title for this assignment is:
Using examples from psychological studies, outline the importance of maintaining ethical standards in psychology
You should write an essay of no more than 1,500 words focused on discussing the importance of maintaining ethical standards in psychological research and/or practice.
To fully answer the question you should provide more than one example from published psychological studies to demonstrate your understanding of the importance of ethics in psychological research and/or practice. You can choose examples from any area of psychology that interests you, and you are welcome to use the examples given in class, as long as you can show that you have read about these studies from published sources. You are free to use examples other than those given in class if you prefer. It is vital that you discuss each example in some depth and relate each study to the maintenance of ethical standards. Do not try to cover every possible example that you can think of; choose examples based on what interests you. Three to four examples discussed in depth is ideal for this assignment.
Throughout your essay there should be evidence of personal reflection on issues relating to ethics in the study of psychology and/or how psychology is practiced in professional settings. It is expected that students reflect on the task and develop reasoned and logical arguments supporting their answers. As such, students are encouraged to adopt a critical approach which should be reflected on the essay addresses the task.
