Task
Understanding the relationship between curriculum, instruction and
assessment is essential to effective educational leadership.
This task requires you to use a unit of work that you have
previously developed/taught and to use the knowledge and skills
described in the module to analyse, evaluate, and justify the
assessment strategies used in this unit. Please contact lecturer if
you require support with selection of a unit of work.
Section 1 Context
Select a unit of work that you have previously taught.
Describe the class (e.g., year/Stage) and students (e.g.
mixed ability/mixed gender) that this unit of work was
developed for.
Describe the timeline for this unit (e.g. 3 weeks/5 weeks)
and the Key Learning Area (KLA e.g., science/maths) and
curriculum outcomes that are being taught and assessed.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of the school,
classroom, teacher and students (use pseudonyms)
Be respectful to the students
Section 2 Design
Design 3 to 5 assessment tasks for this unit of work. In your design
you need to:
Describe the purpose of each task
Align the task to a specific form of assessment (e.g.,
diagnostic, assessment of learning)
Describe each assessment task and what outcomes are
being assessed.
Explain the type of feedback the student would receive for
each task.
Explain how the teacher would use the data obtained from
each assessment task to modify their classroom instruction.
Need to reference literature, research and/or policy
documents to support decisions and justifications.
Section 3 Justify
Justify the assessment design. Using literature, research and/or
policy documents clearly explain and defend the choices made in
the design of the assessments in the unit of work.
Section 4 Links
Discuss, using literature, research and/or policy, how the outcomes

of each of the assessment tasks inform curriculum and instruction.

strategies to assessments
Demonstrate the skills of applying assessment outcomes to
modify teaching program.
Depth of explanation of the links between assessment,
curriculum and instruction
Familiarity with and relevance of professional and/or research
literature used to support response
Appropriateness and relevance of literature, research and/or
policy
Structure and organisation of response
Readability/accessibility of the task
Written expression grammar, spelling, referencing
