REPLY IN 100-150 WORDS /THIS ANSWER IS BASED OFF THE ORIGINAL QUESTION I SENT YOU/BELOW IS ONE OF MY CLASSMATE RESPONSE TO QUESTION

People have studied the Bible quite differently since they may have done this at either an academic setting (such as a philosophy class or a Christian Religious Education class) or a devotional setting (such as Sunday school classes, personal devotion sessions or even Bible Study meetings). When an academician teaches on texts quoted from the Bible, he may not teach this as scripture, while when a religious leader does the same, he does not teach the texts as scriptures. An academician is responsible for teaching on various texts, be it from the Bible (used by Christians), the Quran (used by the Muslims) or the Vedas (used by the Hindus), without showing a preference for either of them or prioritizing on either (Bokovoy, 2015). A course on Religious studies could focus on, for instance, how Christians define and interpret the Bible.

The academicians seek to analyze these texts based on their historical setting and while not paying attention/taking into consideration any theological points of view. They choose to view the Bible as if it were a real book that may contain inconsistent information and relies on various unique cultural backgrounds. They choose to perceive this as liberals would. They choose to believe that these texts have been defined as sacred by the community that relies on it. The conservatives’ way of thinking is similar to that of the Christian religious leaders, who regard the scriptures as revelations from God. They associate everything mentioned in the biblical scriptures with God. Thus, an academician would study the Bible while ignoring the fact that the Bible contains revelations from God, while a religious leader would study the Bible in full knowledge that the Bible is mainly backed by God’s commands (Bokovoy, 2015). Being a Christian mostly relies on believing in God and His existence, thus studying the Bible (God’s teachings) without believing in God or acknowledging that the scriptures are indeed from Him brings an entirely different dimension to what Bible Study is all about. Christians who are religious academicians should be careful not to allow academic points of view regarding Biblical scriptures to cloud their judgment of what they believe Christianity is all about.
