US Foreign policy after World War 2

Madeline Albright was the first Woman to be sworn in as a Secretary of State for the United States government. Her approach to foreign policy was to make decisions that served the interests of app parties that had a stake in the actions of the US government in its relations with other countries.her policies were centered on the interests of the American Public’s needs, the Cinton administration as well as the interests of the United Nations Delegates. It is believed that her family’s experience when they were fleeing the Nazis in Chekslovakia had a profound influence on her decision making.her major achievement was in 2007 when she participated in the Peace effort in the middle East by urging Israel’s then prime Minister to consider the plight of Palestinians and in effect avoid leadership until the Middle East was ready to make some important Decisions regarding the region’s political stability.

Paul Wolfowitz contributed a great deal in the planning of the Iraq war in 2003 by providing estimates for the US government regarding the number of troops that would be required in the occupation.he has been labeled an “idealist” following the great cost the Iraq war had on the United states both economically and miltary-wise. The main bone of contention between Wolfowitz and Ideallists was the fact that he pushed for the introduction of Democracy(which is a good thing) using military intervention on foreign soil. Over 4300 Americans and 100000 plus Iraqis lost their lives in this endeavor thus raising the moral argument  about such actions being valid or not.

The Kyoto Protocol was the result of over a decade of negotiations and deliberations  under the framework Convention on Climate Change .it was a firs when  it comes to international agreements regarding efforts to stem global warming. This is done primarily by controls on the amount of Carbon emissions that different economies contribute to the atmosphere. It has had a pronounced effect in  the European Union countries that contribute fifty percent of the continent’s carbon emissions. The  predicted success of the Kyoto protocol was dealt a severe blow in 2001 with the withdrawal of the United States and other cracks began to emerge in its framework because it emerged that Developing countries were not included in it, currently it is believed that the protocol can only effectively bind countries that contribute a third of the global carbon emissions.

Lt. Romeo Dallaire is the Canadian Commander who first sounded the warning that a genocide was eminent in Rwanda in 1994. Back then he was heading a United Nations Peace keeping force in the country. He felt severely let down and utterly disappointed at the International Community’s response to the requests for reinforcements. From his account it becomes apparent that the senseless slaughter of close to a million Tutsis and Moderate Hutus. Since then he has become a campaigner on the international front with the aim of ensuring that such a massacre never happens again .One of his key points has been to warn world leaders that regions that have unrest usually have the potential to harbor terrorism and the obvious possibility of innocent people suffering in large numbers. He also calls to a shift in the approach of militaries when on international intervention missions by specifying that there should be an overlap between peace keeping efforts and Counter insurgency
