Your MS Word document (.doc or .docx) will be a minimum of 25 pages of actual content in APA format (i.e., double-spaced with one-inch margins all around). Again, no other format is acceptable. Additionally, you will provide the following in correct APA format:

• Title Page
• Abstract with Keywords (on same page)
• Table of Contents (as appropriate)
• Literature Review and the General Content of the paper. Ensure that you have provided appropriate structural organization with headings and subheadings to divide your content into logical sections and subsections.
• References (list at the end of your document. Ensure it starts on a new page and not immediately after the end of the content).
• Appendix or Appendices You may provide exhibits, figures, graphs, and photos, and tables, but I would prefer that you put these at the end of your document as an Appendix or Appendices. These go after the References list. Do not attempt to insert into the general content itself as these insertions into the written content may adversely affect the overall pagination of the document.

You must perform scholarly research to complete this assignment. You MUST have evidentiary support from the extant or published literature to develop your formal topical paper. I strongly recommend at least three (03) parenthetical citations per page and at least 25 or more authoritative resources (including your textbook) as the minimum expectations for this paper. Wikipedia is not an acceptable authoritative resource.

Again, you might want to make an appointment with the Writing Centers on the various EFSC campuses for help with APA formatting, proper parenthetical citations, and building your References list correctly.
Capstone Project Topics

As this is a capstone course, your chosen topic will be drawn from certain business disciplines or functional areas. The following are suggested topical areas of interest as a basis for your presentation and paper:

Contemporary Management – to include management concepts, the 4 principal tasks of management, evolution of management thought (address the following: Scientific Management, Administrative Management Theory, Behavioral Management Theory, Management Science Theory, and Organizational Environment Theory). Further topics include ethics and corporate social responsibility, managing diversity in a multi-cultural environment, managing in a competitive global environment, managing organizational structure and innate culture, value chain management, and managing strategic interventions/change interventions.

Human Resources Management – to include task analysis and work design, recruitment and selection process, performance measurement process, employee training methods, career development and succession planning, motivation in the workplace, compensation and benefits, and labor relations (i.e., CBA, union, etc.).

Operations Management – to include competitiveness and productivity, forecasting, product design, strategic capacity planning, process selection and innovation, facilities layout, work design and measurement, location planning/site selection, product quality management, aggregate planning, inventory management, supply chain management, JIT and lean operations, and scheduling. You may address MRP, MRP II, CRP, or ERP technologies only if you have sufficient working knowledge of these technical applications.

Project Management – to include project selection, project manager selection, risk planning, assessment and management, budgeting (EVMS) and estimating, scheduling (e.g., PERT, CPM, Gantt charts, Network Diagrams, etc.), resource allocation, configuration management, quality function deployment (QFD), project control, and project auditing.

Strategic Management – to include strategic leadership, SWOT analysis, core capabilities assessment, building or enhancing competitive advantages, functional-level strategy, business-level strategy, global environment, corporate-level strategy to include horizontal and vertical integration, strategic outsourcing, diversification, blue ocean strategy, business ethics and corporate governance.

Specific Company or Organization – Further, you want to consider an assessment of a particular company or organization from the perspective of management and leadership, strategy formulation, worldwide operations, marketing strategies, product development, project management, human resources, or whatever aspect of the company or organization that you want to appraise. This is NOT to be a history or a mere overview of a company or organization as your APA Formal Research Paper and MS PowerPoint must relate directly to the course(s) within the organizational management specialization here at EFSC.
