This is for a criminal justice class. “SNO” means special needs offender and my topic is transgenders in prison.
Directions for Term Paper
1. Select a SNO to research.
TRANSGENDERS IN PRISON and be specific regarding connection
to lesson material;

2. Connect lesson material from three textbook chapters to your research. Identify/explain what
matched and what was different (e.g., clientele, BBBs, COs, etc). For example: Does an elderly SNO
also overlap as a death row SNO and substance abuse SNO?

3. Utilize at least three (3) other resources (these could include interviews, videos, book, magazines,
internet articles, etc.) for this paper.
Include information on the following:
a. Characteristics of the SNO
b. Special issues/problems of the SNO
c. Incarceration issues
d. Community issues

Include answers to the following questions:
a. Was the experience what you expected?
b. What surprised you during the experience (if anything)?
c. How did the experience fit with course lesson material?; and
d. Any other thoughts about the experience (personal and academic are both OK).

A. As with all term papers, this paper is to follow the fundamentals of labeling, word range (1200-1500
words), APA style, proper spelling/grammar, referencing/citations, etc.; Proper formatting should
include a cover page, an introduction, body and conclusion as well as a reference/citation page. The
word count is the paper, not the totality of the cover page and reference page
