Topic: Written Assessment- Different Cultures
Order Description
The aim of assignment is to explore appropriate literature and sources from recognised authorities, and write 2 (two) responses in a journal entry that demonstrate your understanding of culturally competent care. Each response will be 1000 words in length and relate to one cultural group (total of 2000 words and two different cultural groups). As part of your critical discussion both responses must address the following criteria in relation to each cultural group:
1. Health beliefs and health practices
2. Psychosocial risk factors that affect the health of the cultural group
3. Factors affecting access to health care (barriers)
4. Strategies for inclusive practice that promote cross cultural communication
Task Description
As a student nurse, your next clinical placement is in a small hospital in a rural community where people from a number of different cultural communities are highly represented. In preparation for your placement, you are keen to inform yourself of the health practices, health challenges and cultural beliefs of two culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups who have a different ethnic and cultural background than your own. As a result, you access information sources in order to be culturally informed and confident when caring for either of the two groups identified, and write corresponding responses in your journal that you can refer to on clinical placement.
Your first written response must be about the cultural background of Indian with Hindu beliefs.
Your second written response must be about the cultural background of Japanese with Buddhist philosophy.
