Responses to articles
Using the Casper College database, find two articles within the theme that you’ve chosen. Please choose articles that have some substance to them. A one-page article is not substantial. I don’t need a thirty-page article, but something between two and ten is preferable. Choose them based on your interest in the topic … not the number of pages it is in length. =)

For each article, do the following:

1) Type a paragraph summary of the article. Make sure to begin the paragraph by introducing the author and the article title.

2) In two separate paragraphs, respond to two points the author makes (one point in each of your paragraphs). In order to respond you will need to share the information you are responding to in the form of a quote. You can begin your paragraphs with something like this:

Johnson says, “Obesity is more of a problem in poverty-ridden societies than in those that have the means to purchase the food they need” (45).

The 45 is the page number that I’ve take the quote from. After you state your quote, respond. Responses are not summaries. They are your own thoughts … what do you question about what they said and why? Or do you agree or disagree and why? Or what experiences do you have that support or deny their claim? These are only a few options. The point is to think critically and respond to what the author has said.

3) Your fourth paragraph should be a conclusion in which you give a final comment on the article and ask a question that the article has led you to. What do you want to know (or need to know) now that you’ve read this? What has it made you curious about?

4) Create a works cited sheet for each of your responses that includes a full citation of the article you’ve used.

Each response should be 1-2 pages long.
NOTE:
Attached are my 2 articles.
For papers, use Times New Roman font, 12 point, double spaced, and make sure to complete as many pages as I ask for on any given assignment. A 1 ½ page paper does not count as a 2 page paper just because 2 pages are used.
