1. The assessment task will involve completion of an individual research-based on 2000 word research paper. (Kindly note that this is a research report and the student must include literature review, academic poster, and reflective portfolio).

4. Length: 2000 words.

5. Formatting: Typed on A4 paper in Times New Roman or Arial font 12 with at least 2.5 centimeter space at each edge, double spaced and pages numbered.

Features of a Good Quality Research Paper

1) Title:
a. Links tightly with research question aim/issue/area being investigated
b. Spells out precisely what is being examined(within consumer behaviour)
c. terms/words used in title should also be in the aim

2) Introduction:
a. Should be brief and tight – say just 5-6 sentences long
b. ‘sets the scene’ for the remainder of the document-the detail comes later in the main body c. ‘Sells’ project to the reader
d. should draw reader in by highlighting what the consumer behavior issue/problem being examined is and why it’s important to
Examine/investigate/explore (e.g.situatingitwithinthedomainoftherelevantconsumerbehaviourliterature)
e. should convey a strong ‘intellectual’ rationale for conducting research in to issue/problem chosen(examples could include: issue is popular in academic and/or practitioner circles; or it’s an emerging/emergent issue which is on the rise; or has competitive implications; or there’s a need to explore how a theory actually plays out in an industry or context for a particular reason)
f. Should provide a strong justification for choice of context (e.g. relating to consumption of a company’s products or products within an
Industry, a brand community)
g. Should spell out what the remainder of the paper will do(e.g. frame what’s going to be covered to guide the reader)in order to fulfill the aim
h. here you might find it useful to refer the reader to a diagram (placed in an appendix)which shows the
Coverage of the written piece (e.g.to spell out clearly, how the material to be discussed relates to the aim)

3) Main Body (not to be called ‘main body’!)

a. Get straight into application/synthesis/critical evaluation, providing the detailed information needed to support the overall critical argument being made/or aim being fulfilled
b. use headings and sub headings to structure the material/argument in order to fulfill the aim defined in the introduction (e.g. key points Which need to be made to build the argument?)
c. blend theory and practice together in this section-demonstrating ability to synthesis evidence/critically evaluate/apply/show depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding and soon
d. support all claims with evidence (e.g. citations/references; material placed in appendix in tables and figures
Conclusion: mirror image of introduction in past tense-show reader that you fulfilled the aim. Highlight key ‘conclusions’ (e.g. summary of key findings
Relating to aim/question) and make recommendations for theory/practice based on your findings.
Recommendations: can be presented in bullet points, identifying any recommendations for changes in theory or practice based on what your research has found out
