Topic: Part B – Goal Definition and Performance Indicators in Soft Projects

Order Description
BACKGROUND

This order is for a Project Management unit at Business School, where PMBOK is the methodology being taught. If the writer has PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from PMI – or is otherwise an experienced Project Manager, that would be beneficial. More details on PMBOK here: https://www.pmi.org/PMBOK-Guide-and-Standards/pmbok-guide.aspx.

INSTRUCTIONS

Refer attached / uploaded case study.

The case study needs be answered explicitly from a Project Management perspective, not a general business perspective.

CASE STUDY: “Goal Definition and Performance Indicators in Soft Projects” (see attached case study file).

In answering the case study, make any necessary but reasonable assumptions. Support any answers with direct reference to the text in the case study.

1. Describe the [16 marks]:

* Deliverable(s) [4 marks]
* Benefits [4 marks] AND suggest one suitable Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for ONE of the benefits [4 marks]
* Strategic Alignment [4 marks]

2. Describe ONE *specific* PROJECT PLANNING PROBLEM encountered in this project, and how it may have been avoided or better managed (8 marks) (200-300 words).

3. Describe ONE *specific* example of GOOD PROJECT PLANNING in the project. (8 marks) (200-300 words).

[Note: context for benefits is that the word has a specific Project Management definition – that is, benefits usually only happen after the project has finished, as a result of using the deliverables from the project itself. The project sponsor has responsibility for benefits realisation, not the Project Manager].

[Note: context for a Key Performance Indicator – KPI identified needs to be expressed using the [quantity, quality, time] formula – e.g. 20% reduction in bus accidents by 31st December, 2016]

[Note: context for Strategic Alignment is that it needs to define how the Project and its deliverables is aligned to the project sponsors long-term goals].

CLARIFICATION RE: REFERENCES = DIRECT REFERENCE TO THE TEXT IN THE (UPLOADED) CASE STUDY ONLY. Thank you!
