Attached is a scenario for an investigation which requires you to submit an affidavit in support of search warrant in the matter of the death of MELISSA BENSON. You are to research how to prepare an affidavit for Commonwealth of Virginia criminal offense and take on the role of a patrol officer assigned to the investigation. It is up to you to present the facts to the judge and follow the standards set in the Constitution. Please review suggestions and outline materials provided in the content section of Black Board and prepare a well written affidavit detailing the narrative of your investigation in a first person exposition of evidence you uncover as a sworn law enforcement officer. Also attached to this scenario if short summary paragraph explaining how you as a well trained law enforcement officer can rely on your training and education can “broaden” the scope of your warrant to include trace, or microscopic blood, hair, and textile evidence.
