Paper details:
This semester you’ve spent a lot of time hearing about the larger influences on design—the context that helps us understand why the design decisions were made—those “universal influences.”?
This extra credit opportunity should be about an experience you had in a formally (or institutionally) designed landscape that impressed you, or has been a part of your life. Then, after both thoughtful reflection and research, give the why’s behind the design. In other words, explain the cultural, political, geographical, etc. factors that had an influence in the selection of specific design elements–answering “Why” it looks the way it does, as we’ve been doing in class.
Submission requirements:
• substantial evidence of research skills that place the design in historical context; introductory paragraph, body and conclusion, with or without images.
Format: 1 page, single-space, 11 font, 1” margins (length is exclusive of references or images). Word document; saved as “last name_xtra.docx”
