In your essay, focus on one metaphor or framework of the nation (for example the melting pot, mosaic/quilt, frontier, empire, conquest, borderland, settler-colonialism, etc.) and analyze what values this vision of nation celebrates. Whose voices are included? Whose voices are left out?
