2. When feminist theory is studied, the usual starting point is the eighteenth century. However, women have written about and against misogynistic attitudes since the Middle Ages. How does the play The Duchess of Malfi present a feminist view of women as leaders and mothers/wives. Contrast this play with the depiction of women in Shakespeare’s King Lear.
