Students will submit a research paper relating to a macroeconomic topic or current macroeconomic event.
Double-spaced and properly annotated following APA 6th edition style.
The research paper allows students to employ economic concepts (comparative advantage, aggregate supply and demand, unemployment, inflation, business cycles, fiscal policy, monetary policy, etc.) in a practical way to a macroeconomic problem, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
approach to the paper would be to divide it into six specific sections as follows:
A.Introduction: topic, statement of problem to be discussed
B.Objectives: thesis statement, what is the goal of the essay?
C.Method: the research method used: case study, books and newspaper/magazine articles, personal statistical research, or previously conducted statistical surveys
D.Findings and Observations: data, facts ascertained, and what did you discover?
E.Conclusions: interpretation, analysis of findings, arguments, personal comments and group opinions, consensus
F.Documentation: footnotes or endnotes, works cited, bibliography.
VERY SPECIFIC LAYOUT
Sections a, b, and c (Introduction, Objectives, and Method) should not consume more than one to two pages of the final draft. The bulk of the research and writing should be concentrated in the d and e sections where discussion should occur, evaluation of theories should be conducted, and conclusions may be drawn.
