To evaluate a literary character

To evaluate a literary characterCHOOSE FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. To what extent do you have compassion for Hester in “The Rocking Horse Winner” by D.H Lawrence? (To answer this question, you may consider any or all of the following: her desires, her interaction/relationship with her husband, her children, and her brother.)
2. Although readers agree that Han’s wife in “Han’s Crime” by Shiga Naoya is a victim of an untimely death, some readers have argued that she otherwise is not a victim and does not deserve our empathy. Do you agree, disagree, or partially agree with the idea that Han’s wife does not deserve our empathy?
3. Some readers have argued that M. Lantin’s wife in “The Jewels of M. Lantin” is an admirable character while others have argued that she is a detestable character. What is your position? Does she have admirable character traits? Detestable character traits? A mixture of both?
