Description of assignment: The purpose of the book review is to enhance your own learning and reflection capabilities. The review should cover each of the chapters. The review should NOT be mere reproduction of the content of the book, BUT your reflection on the content. The task is to find fifteen (15) valuable lessons that you take with you from the book. Which are these lessons, and Why do you perceive them as valuable takeaways?More details about the actual set-up is presented in class.
Learning Outcome(s) Assessed: Emphasize in your review (i) what you learned while reading the book, and (ii) which concepts, principles or practices you either find particularly important or towards which you are sceptical or even critical. The focus in the assessment is on this latter part.
In general, strive to make clear arguments for why you think something is important or erroneous,
preferably supported by examples from your own (or somebody else’s) experience.
Quality Indicators: Clearly stated valuable lessons and good supportive arguments for WHY these fifteen lessons are the ones that you take with you from the book. The description of the actual lessons is short, no more than two sentences. The focus is on your motivation to why that lesson is valuable for somebody who wants to understand family businesses and business families.
The actual report should be about fifteen pages, one lesson a page
