In America, everyone is encouraged to vote. People get very interested in the Presidential election because whoever becomes President will introduce laws that affect everyone in the nation. Even in local communities – towns and cities – everyone is encouraged to vote, because everyone has to decide what to do about the roads, about taxes, about schools, about the economy and jobs, about crime. Do you think everyone should get together and talk about these things?
Even non-citizens are taking an interest in politics! People who are not citizens of the United States want to see laws passed that make it easier for them to live and work here. Do you think they also have the right to get involved in discussion and voting?
