A. Examine the changes in Creon, both as man, kin, and leader, from Oedipus the King to Oedipus at Colonus to Antigone. What causes these changes, and to what degree does hubris lead to them?

B. Trace the “sins of the father” theme and its consequences in all three of the Theban plays. To what extent can the characters control their fate, and to what extent is their past weighing down on them? Be sure to examine all these characters: Oedipus and his parents; Creon and his wife and son; Antigone, Ismene, their brothers, and their father.
