Find any government program, except it cant be a program in which you live. Then identify a similar program within your state. Compare how they run that program in that place as well as in your state. Then do a paper that tells:What the program is, what its supposed to do, and to or for whom; When the two governments first began the program and why; How the program is administered in each place (that is, what levels of government, and what types of employees, and what kinds of operations are involved, including the size and composition of the budget); If the program is administered differently in the two places, why that is true; What recent proposals for changing the program have been made, who initiated them, how they fared, and why; and What suggestions you have for improving the local version of the program, and why you think these are good suggestions. The final course paper will turn out to be between about 12 and about 20 pages long, including appendices and so on. This very deluxe paper will have references (APA format) and include at least the following: three references from the textbooks; two sources from the internet; two articles from academic journals (not those of your literature review) and one interview you conducted. My professor said we could include charts if we like.Readings Shafritz: The Study of Administration, Woodrow Wilson Politics and Administration, Frank Goodnow Bureaucracy, Max Weber Scientific Management, Frederick Taylor Notes on the Theory of Organization, Luther Gulick Shafritz; The Giving of Orders, Mary Parker Follett A.H.
