Project Statement and Requirements:
Research and discuss with examples the various aspects of the SMART PHONE and its impact on people’s lives and society in general.
Describe and illustrate the SMART PHONE.
Answer the following questions using a socio-technical approach but also support the discussions with INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING analytical and synthesis methodologies:
1- What are the positive impacts of the SMART PHONE?
2- What are the social consequences (positive and/or negative)?
3- Does the society consume too much technology (SMART PHONE)?
4- Is the SMART PHONE a tool of social engagement or is it the opposite?
5- What about the “rut” (rude use of technology (SMART PHONE))?
6- Should we consider a “code of conduct” for the use of SMART PHONES?
7- How can we adapt the code of ethics?
8- Should we introduce new engineering design rules and/or standards for “usability”?
9- What about the “risks”, the legal impacts and the responsibility of the engineer for the public safety which is paramount?
It is also required to make sure you:
Redesign the product/system to mitigate against the negative effects of the smart phone.
Address the usability issues and the ethical sustainability considerations.
Illustrate the proposed system/suggestions, standards, codes, and engineering design solutions.
