The Role of Public Opinion

The notion of democracy is synonymous with governmental officials who respond to and represent public opinion. Yet, many philosophers and scholars, including the Framers of the US Constitution, did not fully embrace public opinion. How does our current reliance on public opinion conflict with the Framer’s vision for the people in American democracy
