Task: This course focuses on the concept “professional writing.” That sounds straightforward enough, until you ask a person this question: What is professional
writing?
The problem is that “professional writing” is an abstract concept used to define many things: advertisements, reports, emails, proposals, marketing material, memos,
and the list goes on.
For this assignment, you are to describe how you understand this unwieldy abstract concept: Professional Writing.
approach this as a traditional short essay (400-500 words) with some version of the thesis, ‘Effective professional writing has qualities X, Y, & Z, and adheres to
values A, B, & C.’
You can get creative with format if you would like, but I do expect a text that addresses the point outlined in the template-thesis suggested above.
