One of the most recent protests associated with the water right has been at the standing Rock Sioux Reservation . the goal of the peaceful protest has been to stop the pipe line from crossing the reservation (whatever it is above or below the groundlevel)) and the potential contamination of the Missouri River. The river is the primary drinking water source for the reservation . some of the tribes religious rights require drinking water directly from the river. reservation land are part of a sovereign nation.
