The investigation of traffic accidents in the UAE
Students will be required to identify a research topic and conduct a provisional literature review and methodology for study in their chosen topic area. (1,500 words)

– Bring a paper copy of your submission to the seminar that is scheduled for 11 November 2015, this is a Formative Review Session
o Situate the proposed research in the context of a concise assessment and synthesis of six (N=6) key reference works. These works should focus on academic research outputs such as articles from quality academic journals (e.g. British Journal of Criminology, etc.).
o The core goal is to link the research question(s) and why/how this may add value in confirming, denying and modifying the available literature, and illustrating and identifying gaps in need of empirical research or primary data collection.
Identify the range of possibilities and key focus for primary data collection from human subjects (e.g., questionnaires, interviews, observations, participation in experimental scenarios, etc.). Assess the ethical issues in terms of the balance between the scientific values of the prospective contribution against the (potential) risk of harm(s) to participants, using the University Of Derby Code Of Ethics.
