The paper should reflect an understanding of 17th century Europe as it pertains to religion, society and the role of women. Some historical context is needed as well.
The essay should use specific poems, by women, that address the concept of “Eve”. Did women during this period, internalize the perception of themselves as being the embodiment or cause of the “fall of man”? Did they agree with many male poets who spoke of women as tricky, manipulative, seductresses? What did feminists poets during this period have to say about the role of women and their connection to “Eve”?
