The research paper can focus on any of the short stories or novels we read this semester, and it is recommended that you use one of the works you wrote about for the critical analysis essays. There are a number of options for the research paper: You may write a comparative essay using other works by the same author; or a literary analysis paper using scholarly articles discussing the work (such as the ones listed under “supplementary texts” on the syllabus); or an historical paper, discussing the historical setting for the work (for example, if you are writing about The Great Gatsby, the 1920s in New York) and how it relates to the novel or short story.
You must use three outside sources. The paper should be 6 to 8 pages, MLA formatted, 12 pt. Time New Roman font, double spaced with 1 inch margins. no plagrisum
