The Grapes of Wrath

Pick a character from The Grapes of Wrath and explain how Steinbeck uses this character’s reaction to hardship and poverty to send a message (aka the theme).  In your essay you must

accurately describe the character’s reaction to their hardship and poverty and then assert how that reaction demonstrates the author’s message.

·Your essay must include a thesis that is clear, specific, arguable and answers the complete prompt. The thesis should also include the author’s name and the title of the book.

·3-4 FULL pages typed, double spaced.

·Essays must be word processed, using proper MLA formatting: 12 point Times New Roman font, double-spaced and one-inch margins.

·A minimum of 2 direct quotes from the book in each body paragraph as your evidence.

·No more than 20% of your essay may be direct quotes.

·Proper MLA in text citation and a works cited page
