The literary analysis forces you to apply what you are reading to your life or the real real world in some way.  Do not write a book report.  It is okay to summarize small portions so that your connections become obvious, or clearer, but your essay should focus on directly addressing your topic while using the text to prove that your response is most likely the correct interpretation.

First person (I, me) is permissible, but edit out second person (you), contractions, and slang of course.

It is okay to only have two body paragraphs instead of three.  Quality of your discussion trumps quantity of your discussion.

Conversely, it is okay to have a fourth body paragraph, but you should honestly answer whether this paragraph is adding quality to your paper or just helping you fill a page count.  Quality trumps quantity.

This is not English 1301.  Your paper will not be nitpicked for grammatical errors.  That said, you should have learned a great many things about good writing in English 1301.  A paper with significant grammatical mistakes will not be eligible for an A grade and may not even reach a B grade.  Dont shortcut the editing stage.

Students will write a 3-5 page paper (MLA Format) analyzing book one from Book 1. And its importance to British Literature and if possible, our modern world.  You may quote from the poem and use no more than two (2) outside sources.  If you quote from the novel or use outside sources, proper MLA citations (including a Works Cited) should be followed.  Book 1 is the first 155 pages of the link.
