NBS 8062 Research Methods – Assignment Two: Outline Research Proposal (Brief and Structure)

Programme:

Broad subject area of interest: E.g. Innovation, Enterprise, OB, Technology Management, Strategy, Public Sector Management, E-Business, International Management, etc.

Working Title: Not more than 18 words

Introduction:
Introduce your specific research area.
Discuss, very briefly, what has previously been written before on this topic.
Discuss the area you want to study.

Literature review:
Discuss and categorise what academic material has already been written in the area. In relation to the existing literature, what is the area that you wish to study?
(N.B. A minimum of ten academic references should be reviewed).

Research Question(s):
Based on the literature review, what is your related research question(s)?

Theory:
What theory are you going to use to help you study your research question/area?
Describe the theory and illustrate why this theory was chosen for application in your research.

Philosophical position:
What is your philosophical position? Will you be conducting interpretive or positivist research? Describe your position.

Research approach:
What research approach are you going to use? Will you, for example, be conducting a survey or undertaking a case study? Describe your research approach and then

discuss why you have chosen this approach, as opposed to other ones.

Data collection techniques:
What data collection techniques will you use? Describe the technique(s) you will use and then discuss why you have chosen to use this technique(s), as opposed to other

ones.
