The goal of the term paper is to write an up-to date paper on a topic related to fossil fuels, energy and society. Write the Term Paper in your own words in a way that anyone can understand. You can pick any topic for this, but some examples might include any topic related to fossil fuels in your home country or state, or another country. This could include current events in the news, past history, or various components of the fossil fuel industry. Alternatively you could choose a topic related to future usage of fossil fuels in the 21st century including topic like peak oil, current and past political events, and the relation between energy and the environment.

For your term paper use a double-space 10pt font for a minimum text length of 4-5 pages. The text length does not include the Title Page, References List, Figures and Tables, which would be on additional pages. Figures and Tables are encouraged and should be put at the end of the Report with one Figure or Table to a page along with a Figure or Table Caption. The Captions should also include the reference to where the Figure or Table was taken from, and this should also be included in the Reference List.

You must use a minimum of 3 sources in your Term Paper and these should be listed in your Reference List. All references must be referred to in the text. At least one of the references must be from published peer-reviewed scholarly material

For citing references, use a standard scientific reference style. Within the text, use the author and year as, Smith and Johnson (2004). Within the Reference List put the references in alphabetical order and put enough information on each reference for the reader to be able to find the reference. For example for Internet references include the complete Internet address, as well as author, title and date of posting if available.
