Investigating Legal Aspects of Teacher Contracts
In this activity you will explore the critical legal concepts related to the frameworks that affect public schools across the nation. Teacher recruitment, tenure, dismissal, and due process are all elements which directly impacts student achievement. At the end of this activity, you will prepare a persuasive presentation for a new contract and understand the important elements which should be included in a teachers’ contract which will positively promote student academic achievement.

For this Activity, you have read Chapters 1 and 10 in your textbook, School Law and the Public Schools, and you visited several links related to the legal aspects of teacher contracts. For your first task, please choose one of the following options:
Utilize the website review links provided in the pre-activity and select two or three contracts to analyze. Your analysis should include, but is not limited to the following:
Identify the differences of each, which contract you as a teacher would prefer and what ramifications may some clauses in the contract have on student achievements; either positive or negative. Your response must thoroughly justify your reasoning.
