System Request to create USE CASES
System Request
Name of system project: Lincoln “Advising Master” Program (LAMP)
Description: This system will help advisors keep track of classes that advisees have taken and, more importantly, need to take. The objective of the system is to improve advising such that students register for classes in a (near) optimal manner given the many unknowns concerning course offerings from semester to semester.
Specific system requirements and objectives:
–provide a way for advisors to enter information about their advisees, including name, student ID, degree information (majors, minors, emphasis areas, Honors Program, etc.), courses taken (including transfer credit and waivers)
–keep track of classes needed for various degree options (majors, minors, emphasis area, Honors Program, etc.)
–be able to output a list of courses (including alternatives when available) for any particular student given their degree options
–be able to easily run “hypothetical” scenarios, such as adding a second major or a minor, or changing degree programs
–display a “PERT chart” or other visual depiction of course dependencies toward degree completion (from any given point)
–keeps tabs on progress toward requirements (e.g., number of upper division hours, each general education area, hours toward Honors Program, specific course/degree requirements)
