Consider a business or an organisation that you know. This maybe an organisation where your currently working or have close contact with. If you don?t have detailed knowledge about an organisation then consider the University or a government department that you had dealings with.

Write a report on its current IT services in particular on how well its IT services are aligned to the needs of the organisation and how well they meet the needs of its customers. Using Luftman levels (Luftman 1999) consider and justify the level of strategic alignment you consider the organisation is at.

Consider and justify what measures can be planned in order to improve the strategic Business-IT alignment. These should ideally be practical suggestions rather than vague ideas.

The report should be around 2,500 words. Reports significantly larger or smaller than this will be penalised. Further reading in Business-IT alignment is encouraged and good marks will be awarded to those students who incorporate information (written in your own words) from a number of different referenced sources.

Your submission should contain

?    Standard front sheet for coursework submissions (Edinburgh Campus)
?    A copy of your report either draft or final (approximately 2,500 words)
?    An originality report from turnitin.
