Part 2 Univariate descriptive statistics (2-3 pages
The second part of your analysis report will examine your two variables separately so we know what your sample looks like.  This means you will have to present appropriate univariate descriptive statistics.

You must provide at least one measure of central tendency for each variable.  Remember that certain measures of central tendency can only be used for certain types of variables (e.g. you cant take the average of a discrete variable).  Explain how you made your choice for each.  For continuous variables, provide at least one measure of dispersion.  For discrete variables, describe how spread out the data is across the categories.  Are responses spread out pretty evenly across the categories, or grouped almost exclusively in one single category?  What does this tell us about the IQV (closer to 1 or 0?)?

You will also need to present the variables graphically using the appropriate graphing technique (histogram, bar chart, pie chart) which depends on the level of measurement of your variables. Describe what each chart shows.  You might want to use the chart that you generate to help you find a measure of central tendency as well as describe the dispersion for discrete variables.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
