Identify an issue related to poverty(USE EDUCATION) and discuss how you could respond to this issue as a social worker, applying the value of social justice and the EPAS 2008 educational competency 2.1.5, provided below.

Ethical Principle: Social workers challenge social injustice. 
Social workers pursue social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people. Social workers’ social change efforts are focused primarily on issues of poverty, unemployment, discrimination, and other forms of social injustice. These activities seek to promote sensitivity to and knowledge about oppression and cultural and ethnic diversity. Social workers strive to ensure access to needed information, services, and resources; equality of opportunity; and meaningful participation in decision making for all people.

2008 EPAS Educational Competencies and Practice Behaviors Standard 2.1.5:

EP 2.1.5 Advance human rights and social and economic justice

• Understand the forms and mechanisms of oppression and discrimination

• Advocate for human rights and social and economic justice

• Engage in practices that advance social and economic justice

PART 2:
PROMPT: Identify an example of oppression of a vulnerable group in society. Suggest a specific intervention to address this discrimination.
