Social Work and Human Services
Pick 1 major developmental stage such as infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, middle adulthood, and the elder years.
-Pick at least 3 theorists ( Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, Carol Gilligan, Mary Ainsworth, Jean Piaget, James Marcia, etc..) who have made important contributions in terms of developmental concepts or ideas in the major developmental stage you chose. At least 2 of the theorists you select should have been discussed in this course.
-In your paper, do the following:
• Discuss briefly the major developmental stage you have chosen and explain why it is valuable for you to further understand in your future career in human services (2-3 pages)
• In thinking about the 3 theorist and their ideas, do the following:
o Discuss at least 3 key similarities across all 3 theories (2 or more pages)
o Discuss at least 3 key differences across all 3 theories (2 or more pages)
• For each of the theories, generate at least 1 “suggested improvement” you would make to the theory (1/2 page per theory). For example, many theories are limited in scope and perhaps you would add an additional stage or concept that would strengthen the theory overall.
