Social Influence

Many if not most people spend much of their lives in the company of others and/or in groups. And as you likely know from your own experience, the presence of others impacts an individual’s behavior, an individual’s behavior often impacts another’s, and individuals’ behaviors often impact that of an entire group.

This discussion focuses on three aspects of social influence: conformity, compliance, and obedience to authority. News stories are filled with examples of all three–or the lack thereof.
