(assignment specification copied from course handbook) DESCRIPTION OF ASSESSMENT: A 6000 word literature review project, which critically analyses
and evaluates one aspect of professional practice relevant to Nursing/ Midwifery.
You are required to:
i) Build on skills, knowledge and understanding gained in the previous courses,
and demonstrate the ability to critically examine and evaluate literature
relevant to your own area of professional practice.
ii) Demonstrate a thorough and systematic understanding of research processes
and critiquing skills throughout the review and present the findings in a
critical, coherent and structured manner.
iii) Develop and utilise information and communication technology in order to
maintain an understanding of recent innovations and developments in care
iv) Based on evidence outlined, evaluate professional practice in the context of
multi professional and client centred care in order to identify professional,
legal and ethical implications.

PROJECT PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS:
Page Numbering
1. Pages should be numbered, 1 onwards from first page of text, in the centre
and at the foot of each page and should continue to the end, including
appendices.
Paper size and spacing
A4 paper to be used, typed on one side only,
Reference list- please ensure line spacing between references;
Appendices- single line spacing if possible.
There should be
a) A title page, which contains the title of the review, the student’s I D number ,
the degree for which the project is submitted and the date of submission,
word count, University of Greenwich, Faculty of Education and Health
b) An abstract of no more than 200 words (not included in word limit) which
includes an outline of the topic reviewed, the scope of the review in terms of
breadth of the literature search, a summary of the main issues addressed and
arising, conclusions drawn and recommendations for further investigation,
and practice development.
c) Acknowledgements to organisations, funding bodies (if appropriate),
supervisors, advisors and others who have contributed to the review.
d) A table of contents with chapter headings and sub-headings, references, and
appendices.
e) The main review, divided into appropriate chapters, references, and
appendices (see below).

The dissertation must be a literature review that critically analyses 10-14 primary research articles. Through this research 2-3 themes are produced and discussed.
I do not mind on the topic, but it must be related to smoking cessation and I would like to be informed to ensure it is appropriate for my course.

You will write a Research Paper that will compare Behavioral Learning Theories and Cognitive Learning Theories. You will include a title page, a 150–250-word abstract, an 8-page body, and a reference page. The body will include an introduction, 6 sections, and a conclusion. The paper must be written in current APA format. Current APA Level 1 sub-headings must be used throughout the paper. The 6 main sections of the paper will address the following topics:

Smoking has been a vice for many people of a wide variety of ages for hundreds of years. The addiction to the tobacco properties creates a tremendous need for the substance the longer it is used.

1. Historical Development of Each Theory—For each theory, discuss prominent persons and their corresponding historic research. Include how the theory has been developed over time. Have there been significant changes from its development to what current researchers in the area believe?

2. Key Concepts of Each Theory—This section will focus on the major points of each theory. How is new information acquired? What are the goals of learning? What is unique about each theory?

3. Research Support for Each Theory—This section will include a review of 4 peer-reviewed scholarly research articles. The first 2 articles will address research in which Behavior Learning Theory has been applied. The other 2 articles will use Cognitive Learning Theory in the research. Each article must show the effectiveness of the learning theory it addresses.

4. Educational Implications—This section will discuss the implications for how learning takes place in the classroom. Discuss the benefits and applications of each theory. How would each theory say people learn in a classroom setting? What are the benefits to teaching new information utilizing each theory?

5. Biblical Worldview—Discuss what the Bible says regarding learning behavior in humans. How would a biblical worldview impact a learner? Include chapter and verse when citing the Bible.

6. Most Effective Theory of Learning—Select which theory of learning (Behavioral or Cognitive) you believe is most effective. Substantiate your decision with research support citing journal articles and your textbook.
Required sources for this paper include the Bible, your textbook, 4 peer-reviewed journal articles, and at least 2 additional scholarly sources. Remaining sources must address educational implications, historical context, and/or biblical worldview topics related to Behavioral and Cognitive Learning Theories. At least 4 of the sources (the peer-reviewed journal articles) must have been published within the last 10 years. Popular writing and web pages are NOT acceptable sources for this paper. Refer to the provided grading rubric to fully understand the requirements for this assignment.
