The paper is an account of your personal observation of a political event, meeting, or hearing. You may not attend a student government event for this assignment. Viewing an event online or on television is not acceptable; you must attend the event, meeting, or hearing. You may fulfill the requirement by attending a legislative committee hearing, a session of Congress or a state legislature, a court proceeding, a local zoning board hearing, a county board meeting, or a school board meeting. Your paper should be based on at least two hours of observation. Set the scene if necessary and provide details of what you saw. The paper should then relate your topic to class readings and discussions. Give your observations and reactions to the event.
